Prom 2011

The day started with a bowling trip, then the boys all came over to get ready, then pictures, pictures and more pictures finally they got to go to dinner.  They had dinner at The River Rock Ale House in Eagle and headed into downtown Boise for the Junior/Senior Prom!  A good time was had by all and they all looked GREAT!

I still can't believe that he is old enough to go to Prom, it seems like we were just going to Prom!

Spring Sports

I can't make excuses so I won't even try....I decided today that I better catch up on blogging a little before going outside to start working on cleaning up the pool!

This Spring although it doesn't seem like Spring has gone by way too fast....with both kids playing Baseball, Softball and Shelby playing AAU basketball too, we wonder where all our time goes!

The JV girls softball is doing great considering how young they are...the starting infield is all Freshman if Shelby is pitching.  With a week left of games, they are trying hard to make it to the District tourney of which they only take 4 teams at the sub-Varsity level.

The Varsity Baseball team is coming alive and at the right time...bats, pitching, it is all coming together.  With two games left in the regular season on Tuesday and Wednesday they sit as the 4th seed.  We are all excited to see how far they can go especially if they keep playing the way that they have been playing.  For the first time in the 3 years that Cody has played Varsity, they beat Bishop Kelly HS on Friday!

Districts will start on Saturday for both kiddos!

Spring Sports ~ Opening Day

Well, it is now the beginning of my favorite time of the year....Baseball and now Softball season!  Picking a Spring Sport for Shelby was quite a challegne and one we thought that she had overcome just in time for the High School Spring Sports Meeting she had decided to run track so the uniform was ordered and spirit gear and on the last Monday in February she was off to track practice!  After the first practice, we had on our hands one very upset girl, although I continued to try and talk up track and how it would get better she didn't think so....so the next day at school she spoke to both the track coach and the softball coach!  She was able to still go out for SOFTBALL with a chance for a fair try-out!  Now I believe that she is very, happy with her decision and maybe has learned a lesson from this but one will ever know!  She started her season playing the first game on Friday for the Freshman team, she pitched and had 2 hits and the only 2 runs.  Then on Saturday, she played her first game with JV and the Freshman team needed her to pitch again.  We are short a few pitchers!  Next week is the start of regular season and we think she will be playing most of the time with the JV team!  Although we would have supported her no matter what, WE are so happy with her decision to play Softball as we all love the sport!

Saturday was Opening Day for the Middleton Vikings Varsity Baseball team with a double header at Endicott Field!  We kicked it off with a team dinner on Friday night at our house and I think a good time was had by all.  I do know that nobody left hungry.  We had  a lot of food (Alfredo, salad and garlic bread) for 15 growing boys!  The first game started at 11am against Kuna, Cody was the starting pitcher and each pitcher only pitched two or three innings, our early score was 1-3 then 2-4 then we took the lead 5-4 and the win.  Next game was at 5pm or so, following an extra inning Kuna/New Plymouth game, this time we played New Plymouth and started 0-1 then 1-5 then ended the game again in the lead 8-6 after 5 innings called for darkness.  Off to a great start!

This next week will be our test week, with Shelby having games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Cody playing on Thursday and Friday!  I guess we will be home on Monday :)

End of Basketball Season ~ Girls at State!

Wow!  I can't believe how long it has been since I have blogged!  Not quite sure what I have been busy doing but whatever it is, it has been fun!  Once again, the kids continue to take up most of our time!  We ended the Freshman Basketball season in 3rd place and then continued to follow the Varsity girls as they made their journey to the State Tournament once again!  The kids and their friends even had some school spirit in the student section!

Tip Off Dance 2011

Tip Off Dance started at about 1:00pm with Bowling.  The group had a great time!

The original plan was to go to Olive Garden but being so young they forgot that they may need reservations.  So on to plan two...Louie's in Meridian!

Tip Off Dance followed the Girls Basketball Game on Friday night.  Tip Off was girls ask boys and Cody was asked by two different girls.  For his first dance, he was put in a difficult situation but made the right choice and went with the original girl "Olivia" that said she was going to ask him and she did.  Although he was quite upset with how much everything cost even though he didn't buy anything.  I think he had a great time and with a great group of kids!

I had a hard time letting go since as Cody says, "I like to be in control."  And boys go to the girls house to pick up and take pictures so I had to rely on someone else but it all worked out.  Olivia's Mom e-mailed pictures the next day and we even got more off of Facebook.

Since Shelby had a game that night we didn't even see him leave for his first big dance.  Speaking of Shelby, she decided to sit this dance out.  Shelby and Grady came over to the house and had pizza and watched a movie since Grady is still recovering from his surgery (tore his ACL).

I think a fun time was had by all!

Basketball Season Continues

Shelby is nearing the end of her Freshman year of Basketball and it continues to be a great season.  She has made so many improvements within the last year.  One of her best games so far was in Kuna...where she scored 12 points and 7 of them within 2 minutes.  The cameraman (Dave) gets a little busy talking so got a 3 pointer but you can't tell that Shelby was the shooter!  They still have a hard time playing Skyview and have lost to them twice and to Bishop Kelly once.  They will finish up their season playing Mountain Home, Emmett, Bishop Kelly and Nampa!  They have turned into a pretty good team and played beyond expectations!  Then the top 4 teams will go onto Districts.

Go Lady Vikes!

I attempted to upload the video but I don't have the patience for it right now as it is taking forever!

New Years 2010

This year after Shelby got finished with Basketball practice we headed up to Garden Valley with The Roseberry Family!  We had very, very cold temps. like -10 degrees on New Years Morning but alot of fun was had by all!  You can see by the clock that making it until midnight was difficult but once the ball fell, we seemed to be able to stay up past 2 o'clock.  Which made for a slow morning on New Years Day...but after Noon we all made it outside for some snow fun!

The Kids enjoy each other so much and since The Hildebrandts were unable to make it, we had Austin come with us!

There were 3 different games going on....The Adults, The Older Teenage Kids and Shelby and Sam!

Shelby and Cody (yes, that is Cody) enjoyed the weekend!

Some snow fun!  Ann and Steve broke out the cross-country skis and Dave even had a lesson!

Sledding fun...This video includes Cody, Joe, Austin and Brady!

P.S.  Thanks to Val...for sharing that Piknik is where you make the above cute little pictures (Good thing for Web 2.0 classes :) )  At least I got something done tonight!
